The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has announced that the online admissions application period for Grade 1 and 8 pupils for the 2026 academic year will open this Thursday, July 24, 2025, and close on August 29, 2025. Parents and guardians are urged to apply timeously to avoid last-minute issues or delays.

•Application Period: July 24 – August 29, 2025
•Who Must Apply: Parents of children entering Grade 1 (including current Grade R learners) and Grade 8
•Required Documents: Parent/guardian ID, proof of home address, birth certificate, immunization/clinic card (for Grade 1), and latest school report.
Important Reminders:
•No Automatic Placement: There is no automatic progression from Grade R to Grade 1, so parents with children in Grade R must apply online for Grade 1 admission
•Beware of Scams: The GDE warns parents to be cautious of scams promising guaranteed placements in exchange for money; all official support is free
